Most leaders get their first team with very little help. They learn by trial and error, and the honest feedback that would help them most usually arrives a year later, in a performance review, when habits have already set.
Companies want to help. They run workshops, hire coaches and buy 360 tools. But the pieces rarely connect. The feedback is generic, the coach starts from scratch, and the People team can't tell whether any of it is working.

Sarah Tobin
Sarah has more than 15 years of experience designing development programs for leaders at every level, from new managers to tenured executives. She has built them for global organizations of 5,000 to 25,000 employees, including high-growth tech companies like Uber and Stripe. She holds a master's in organizational psychology, has published research on leadership profiling, and completed leadership training at Harvard.
